The late Balakong assemblyperson Eddie Ng Tien Chee was always willing to serve his constituents with a smile, said Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari.

Amirudin in a statement said Ng's passing is a big loss to the Pakatan Harapan coalition and has left a void that will be felt by his constituents, and the people of Selangor, in general.

"I am extremely saddened by Eddie's passing.

"He was an assemblyperson who served with full dedication for his people and was committed to bringing their voice to the state legislative assembly, through his stint as a representative since 2013.

"Since the day I've known, he has always cracked a smile and was willing to help out anyone in need," said the menteri besar.

Amirudin noted that Ng was an active member of Selangor Harapan, through his party DAP.

"His passing is definitely a huge loss to Harapan and the void left by him will be felt by the people in Balakong, and Selangorians, in general. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to Ng's wife, children and family and hope they will be strong in weathering this challenge."

Meanwhile, former Selangor menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali also, in a Facebook post, also wished condolences over the incident.

"Condolences to his family. (His passing is a) huge loss to all of us."

Ng was killed in an accident at KM11.7 of the Grand Saga Highway, near Cheras, early today. He died on the scene of serious head injuries.

In the 14th general election (GE14) on May 9, Ng defeated BN's Lim Chin Wah and Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali by a majority of 35,538 votes.

His death will force the second by-election after GE14.

The first is due to be held on Aug 4 for the Sg Kandis state constituency following the death of its assemblyperson Mat Shuhaimi Shafie, 50, of PKR on July 2 because of lymphoma.
