Police have recorded a statement from one of former premier Najib Abdul Razak's domestic helpers at his residence in Jalan Duta this morning.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief Rusdi Mohd told Malaysiakini that the domestic helper was a witness with regard to a police report.

However, he declined to reveal details of the report.

A source later told Malaysiakini that the report was one of many lodged by Najib since the 1MDB investigation was launched and properties linked to the former premier were raided.

He said the police officers who recorded the domestic helper's statement were from the Sentul district police headquarters.

The presence of police vehicles at Najib's residence had led to several media personnel gathering at the scene.

Last month, federal commercial crimes director Amar Singh said the cash and items seized from the six residences linked to Najib amounted to between RM900 million and RM1.1 billion.

He said it took the police from May 21 to June 25 to ascertain the value of the cash and items seized.

According to Amar, more than 12,000 pieces of jewellery – comprising 2,200 rings, 1,400 necklaces, 2,100 bracelets, 2,800 pairs of earrings,1,600 brooches and 14 tiaras were seized.

Umno has since claimed that the cash belonged to the party and was in the process of being transferred to the new leadership after Najib resigned.

The former premier has also maintained the same and claimed that most of the items were gifts.
