PKR has taken disciplinary action against eight of its members who were found to have involved in misconduct and tarnishing the image of the party during the 14th general election.

In a statement today, PKR communication director Fahmi Fadzil said the party sacked Pasir Salak branch chief Noor Azwan Ramli and suspended five of its branch chiefs.

They included Tapah branch chief Audanan Talib, Lenggong branch chief Id Azalan Shah Banyamin, Gerik branch chief Kaha Othman, Parit branch chief Usaili Alias and Kuala Kangsar branch chief Mohd Khair Mohd Zainal. They were suspended for two years.

Negri Sembilan PKR Youth member M Shanmugam was also suspended for two years.

Meanwhile, the party issued a warning against Padang Rengas branch chief Alias Ibrahim.

"Those names are not allowed to be involved in activities related to the party," Fahmi said, adding that they can appeal to the central leadership council in 14 days from the date of the result of the disciplinary action.

He reiterated that the party views its members' misconduct seriously and will not hesitate to take disciplinary action against any members who tarnish the image of the party.
