Parliament media centre receives two new amenities

There are two new additions to the media centre in Parliament today, namely a new water dispenser and a coffee stand.

The two additions are sponsored by Spritzer and Chek Hup Sdn Bhd, who have agreed to provide these amenities for Parliament for five years.

"We must say thank you, these are the corporate sponsors from Chek Hup and Spritzer.

"They have agreed to, whenever we have a sitting, they will supply for the entire five years, so long as Pakatan Harapan is the government," Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming told Malaysiakini today.

Spritzer has provided a water dispenser, together with a supply of water bottles, which dispenses hot and cold water, while Chek Hup is providing both Ipoh white coffee and “teh tarik”.

Nga, who is Teluk Intan MP, said this is part of parliamentary reforms and their commitment to provide the press with a media-friendly environment in Parliament.

"Even though it may look like a trivial matter, but I believe a small kind gesture means a lot to the media," he said.

"The best part is we do not spend a single sen from the people, as it is all by the kind sponsorship of Spritzer and Chek Hup," Nga added.

Nga told Malaysiakini that he facilitated the sponsorship from the two companies and that a new water dispenser will also be installed for Parliament staff and in the Speaker's office.

Chek Hup is headquartered in Ipoh while Spritzer is a leading bottled water company based in Taiping.
