Khairy Jamaluddin has wished Rafizi Ramli all the best for the latter's bid to become the next PKR deputy president.

"All the best, Rafizi. Hope yours will be a different outcome than mine," Khairy tweeted in response to a KiniTV video on Rafizi's candidacy.

Last month, Khairy made an unsuccessful bid for the Umno presidency. He was defeated by Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Contacted for comment, Rafizi thanked the Umno lawmaker.

“This is what we always wanted, for politics to be more inclusive with due respect and not toxic. We may disagree on many things, but we must be able to publically agree on certain issues.

“We have a long way to go in managing a progressive political change in this country. You know my fear post-election. The euphoria puts us on the border, we may become the same people we hated.

“We have to be careful Pakatan Harapan supporters do not become like that...

“It is important to encourage the building blocks for a more progressive political situation, Governments come and go, politicians come and go,” he told Malaysiakini.

In an exclusive report last night, Malaysiakini confirmed that Rafizi, who is currently PKR vice-president, would vie for the number two post which could see him lock horns with the incumbent Azmin Ali.

However, Azmin has remained tight-lipped about his plans for next month's party polls amid speculation that he might contest the president's post against Anwar Ibrahim.

Previously, Rafizi and Khairy shared a friendly exchange on Twitter during the first day of the 14th Parliament sitting.

After Khairy refused to join a BN walkout in protest of Dewan Rakyat speaker Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof's appointment, Rafizi had remarked that there was much support for a strong opposition and wished him good luck.

Khairy thanked Rafizi and said that he would be seeing the former Pandan MP in the Dewan Rakyat soon.
