Perak Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu said a charity event in Perak which featured a "sexy" singer had nothing to do with the state government.

"I deny my involvement or the Perak Menteri Besar Office, any Perak government agencies or departments in a charity event that featured a sexily-clad singer as circulated on social media," he said in a statement today.

Faizal noted that during the performance, the backdrop of the stage carried his picture as well as that of Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran.

It also carried the name of the organiser, namely Persatuan Kebudayaan dan Pelancongan Kinta Perak.

"The organiser had also used the Perak emblem, the Visit Perak 2017 logo and the Tourism Perak logo on the screen.

"I have asked the relevant authorities to check whether the state government is linked to the event and I was informed that there was no sponsorship nor did any representatives from the Menteri Besar Office, state departments or agencies attended the event," he said.

Faizal said the use of his image or state symbols reflects upon the institution of the Perak menteri besar and government.

"Therefore, it is with regret that I have instructed any quarters wanting to use my image, be it in my capacity as a menteri besar, state assemblyperson or MP, to first refer to the Menteri Besar Office," he said.

He stressed that this was to avoid future misunderstandings.
