Sacked pilot Zaidi Ahmad today lamented that his request for his pension to be reinstated and to rejoin the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) has been rejected by the Pakatan Harapan government.

Zaidi, who currently serves as Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow's information officer, said the Armed Forces Council has told him that he is not eligible for the demands in his appeal as he was sacked from his job.

"I will meet them on Judgment Day," an upset Zaidi told Malaysiakini.

"I won't comment much about this decision but I would like to remind Harapan leaders not to forget, they have now obtained minister positions, they are happy and can enjoy much luxury in their lives.

"Do not forget the rakyat who have struggled and helped you attain what you have now, because the same rakyat can also bring you down."

Back in May this year, Zaidi submitted his appeal to the Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu at his home in Tasek Gelugor.

In his appeal, Zaidi had also asked to be allowed to rejoin the air force, as he is an experienced pilot who was "forced" to leave his post by the previous BN regime. 

Mohamad said at the time that he would look into the matter. Malaysiakini has contacted Mohamad and is awaiting his response.

Zaidi was sacked from his job by the military court of the RMAF in 2015 after he challenged the Election Commission on the issue of the indelible ink during the 2013 general election.

The police report he subsequently lodged was deemed to have run afoul of RMAF work ethics.
