There is no need as of yet to reveal who developed the e-voting system to be used in the forthcoming PKR elections, party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution said.

"This is an aspect of the party's internal preparations.

"This is a system that, at the party level, should be viewed as a credible system. So, for now, there is no need to reveal the identity of who developed the system," he told reporters when met at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.

Saifuddin said this when asked when the party would reveal who the e-voting developer is, and also the independent firm auditing the party elections.

He said the party leadership has already been briefed on this matter.

Asked whether it would be revealed in the interest of transparency, the domestic trade minister said he would leave it to the PKR election committee to decide.

This is the first time PKR is using an e-voting system for the party elections.

The election committee has given its assurance that the results could not be tampered with as the party would not have direct access to the backend of the system.

The PKR elections will take place over several weeks, starting in Kelantan and Terengganu on Sept 14 and end in Sabah on Oct 13.
