Amid speculations over his return to Parliament, incoming PKR president Anwar Ibrahim today claimed there had been many elected representatives who had offered him their seats.

Anwar, however, told a press conference at his new office in Petaling Jaya, that he has yet to make up his mind on which seat to choose.

"Since I came back from Turkey, a lot of MPs have met me. There have been a lot of people who wanted to offer me seats but I feel it is not the right time yet,” said the former Permatang Pauh MP.

The former deputy prime minister also said he would first discuss the matter with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad before making any announcements.

“I have discussed with Dr Mahathir last week and once I have decided, I will inform him first. Then only will I tell everyone else," Anwar added. 

Earlier this week, there were reports that an independent lawmaker in Perak has reportedly offered his Parliament seat for Anwar to contest.

According to the news report, the MP, who was formerly with BN, made the offer during a recent meeting with Anwar.

Both Bagan Serai MP Noor Azmi Ghazali and Bukit Gantang MP Syed Abu Hussin Syed Abdul Fasal had contested and won as part of BN/Umno but announced their exit from the coalition following Harapan's win in the 14th general election.

On Wednesday, Azmi denied offering his seat to Anwar while Syed Abu Hussin previously said he did not intend joining any other party.

Several other PKR lawmakers have also openly stated they are willing to give up their seats for Anwar including Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul and Selayang MP William Leong Jee Keen.

Anwar first hinted of his desire to return to Parliament when stumping for PKR’s Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni in the recent Sungai Kandis state seat by-election.
