It has been months since their houses were burnt down but three families from Pandan Jaya are still homeless although they were promised flat units at Laksamana People's Housing Project (PPR) in Kuala Lumpur.

Since the incident on May 30, the victims have been seeking shelter at the Pandan Baiduri hall.

One of the victims, G Chandran, said Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is also Pandan MP, as well as Pandan Indah assemblyperson Izham Hashim had visited them at the hall on the day of the fire.

"We were promised that we will be given a PPR unit but until today there's no news about it.

“YB Izham had handed over the responsibility to a local known as Pathmanathan, who acts as a middle person between the victims and DBKL (Kuala Lumpur City Hall).

"Every time we contact him, he says that it is in process," Chandran said.

Pusat Aduan Rakyat Malaysia president A Chandrakumanan, who visited the eight victims today, urged the government to help them as promised.

"I am concerned about the families. There are young children and senior citizens, and as you can see, this place is poorly maintained. There is a lot of rubbish. I'm afraid that this will affect their health.

"I appeal to the government to help them get PPR units as promised," he said, when met at the Pandan Baiduri hall today.
