Don’t get carried away by posts, Wan Azizah tells Harapan leaders

Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has reminded all Pakatan Harapan leaders who helmed the current government to discharge their duties with full integrity and not to get carried away with the posts they held.

Wan Azizah, the Harapan president, said they should always remind themselves that the coalition won in the last general election due to its intentions to safeguard the people’s welfare, especially the poor, hence the need to discharge their responsibilities as best they could to fulfil their pledges.

"…as (Kedah Menteri Besar) Mukhriz Mahathir said in his ceramah before Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad arrived just now, the previous prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, when about to face the 14th general election, the story was always good, can win two-thirds majority.

"I believe we have been tested, have been given the mandate, hold posts, (but) don’t forget, don’t be surrounded by people who will only tell you good things.

"Don’t forget we won based on our intentions to help the people, especially the most needy, that is our promise. Don’t we forget that,” she said when speaking at the state level Jelajah Malaysia Baharu programme in Alor Setar tonight.

Also present were Mahathir, who is also Harapan chairperson and wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Amanah president and Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu, and Mukhriz, who is also Kedah Harapan chairperson.

Meanwhile, Mohamad said public support to see Malaysia recovered to its original state was very high, which was evident in the overwhelming response towards the Tabung Harapan Malaysia launched in May.
