Disappointing that MCA keeping silent on BN scandals - Gobind

MCA should explain to the people why it does not defend the people's rights despite the numerous incidents of abuse of power and misappropriation of funds committed by the previous BN government which it represented.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo said MCA had not only kept silent in terms of the 1MDB scandal but had also accused Pakatan Harapan of playing dirty politics when it disclosed the matter.

“They (MCA) have been there (as BN component party) for years. They knew what was going on, but they still call on the people to support and trust them to take care of the people.

“This is a serious matter. Can we trust them?” he asked in his ceramah while campaigning for Harapan for the Balakong by-election last night.

Gobind Singh also told the crowd of about 300 people to question MCA and its candidate for the by-election, Tan Chee Teong.

He said MCA’s move to contest using its own flag as a symbol rather than the BN’s had somehow proved that the party was now ashamed to be associated with BN and former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The Balakong by-election is being held following the death of its state assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee in a road accident last month.
