Check land title – Najib teaches Rafidah 'half-day' shortcut

Najib Abdul Razak has questioned if three months are needed to confirm Rafidah Aziz's allegation that a firm owned by three individuals has taken control of 40,000 hectares of land belonging to the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces.

“Just examine the land title and you would know. It does not take half a day to do this,” the former prime minister said in a Facebook post this afternoon.

“I know her allegation is false,” he reiterated.

Najib was responding to Rafidah, who yesterday cited a June 14 news report which quoted Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu as stating that the allegation is being investigated.

In a message to Malaysiakini yesterday, Rafidah, a former minister, questioned Najib's “eagerness to be hauled in” over this allegation.

She also claimed there is a cabinet paper that could validate her allegation and urged the government to declassify the document if it was an official secret.

Prior to that, Najib had asked what had happened to the allegation, which he claimed was nothing more than slander and hurled prior to the 14th general election with the aim of enraging military voters.

The former prime minister also cited another allegation which was levelled against him prior to the GE14, but there was no development after Pakatan Harapan came into power.

The second allegation came from Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who claimed that RM160 billion went missing from Bank Negara's reserves during Najib's reign.

Najib denied that the money had gone missing or was stolen.

At a press conference this afternoon, Mahathir claimed that the authorities were spoilt for choice with regard to Najib's alleged wrongdoings and therefore must pick and choose.

“There are many charges against Najib, many wrong things that he has done. We have to choose which one we want to manage first,” he said.
