A KiniTV video showing PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim dancing with an impersonator of the late Tamil cinema superstar MG Ramachandran, better known as MGR, has gone viral.

The video was taken at an Indian cultural night event at Desa Mentari in Petaling Jaya last night.

Also present was PKR's candidate for tomorrow's Seri Setia by-election Halimey Abu Bakar.

The crowd cheered and clapped when Anwar took to the stage and danced to the tune of one of MGR's greatest hits from the 1969 movie “Enga Veetu Pillai”.

This is not the first time the PKR leader has done this in the run-up to an election when canvassing for votes from the Indian community.

He also often chooses MGR songs which talk about alleviating poverty and helping the downtrodden.

During the 2008 general election, Anwar had capitalised on current Indian cinema superstar Rajnikanth's blockbuster Sivaji The Boss.

Posters emerged depicting the former deputy premier sporting a pair of shades and striking a similar pose to that of Rajinikanth with the caption “Sivaji The Boss”.

In 2011, Anwar had once again likened himself to the movie character, who battles corruption, during an event in Klang where he vowed that the then opposition coalition Pakatan Rakyat would defend the rights of the Indian community.

He had also brushed aside allegations from Umno at the time that he was a US agent.

“I am not an agent, I am Sivaji the Boss,” he stressed.
