Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said his administration will ensure only those who are qualified and experienced, with a good loan track record will have their tender offers considered.

“We will make it so that only those who are trained or experienced will be given consideration when examining their offers for tenders.

“Their CVs will be taken into consideration, especially with regards to their habits when they take on debts, including PTPTN debts,” he said.

The 93-year-old, who is also the Bersatu chairperson, was delivering his keynote address at the Bersatu two-year anniversary celebrations held at Stadium Malawati in Shah Alam last night.

As the new government, he said they will work to push the Malays forward and narrow their economic gap with the other races.

The government will do this by creating policies, opportunities and facilities for Malays to improve their performance, he said.

“But this time, we will ensure that everything given to the Malays will not be misused by them.

“We will ensure that they are trained in management, especially in managing finances.

“We will sow into their hearts all the noble values. We will not hesitate to act against misappropriation,” he said.

Those who succeed in getting any licenses, approved permits (AP), contracts and others must do the jobs themselves, he stressed.

If these were sold or transferred to someone else, whether Malay or not, then those licenses, APs or contracts would be cancelled, he warned.

Any support from ministers or high-ranking officers will not matter, including any support from the prime minister, he said.

He insisted that evaluation be based only on finances, capabilities and experience.

“For those who do not yet have experience, work in your chosen field first,” he advised.

This way, he said, only those who can handle it themselves will submit their tenders.

“Offers will be opened soon for infrastructure construction, business and others soon,” he said.
