A group of some 30 people this morning staged a peaceful demonstration at the lobby of Petaling Jaya Courts Complex to demand protection of rights of two teenaged boys currently being held over the murder probe of the Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer.

The protesters, including family members of the children and their friends, held placards during the silent protest that started at 10 am.

Among the demands, as stated on their placards were for the children to be given a fair investigation and also for the media to ensure fair reporting over the case.

They also demanded that the two boys not be handcuffed and chained and held separate from adult detainees. They said their identities should also not be revealed as they were minors.

It was reported that the youths, aged 16 and 14, were picked up by police on Saturday to help in the investigation into the death of Nazrin Hassan in June.

The protesters were at the complex for a hearing at the Magistrate's Court where police are expected to apply for an extension of the remand order for the boys' mother, Nazrin's wife, who was arrested about a week ago alongside her ex-husband.

Police had last month reclassified their probe into Nazrin's death as murder after a post-mortem and fire investigation reports revealed that he may have been murdered.
