A police corporal is in remand for six days from today for allegedly soliciting and receiving bribes from a goat thief.

The remand order was issued by the assistant registrar of the Special Remand Court Mas Azmimin Ahmad following an application from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC )to investigate the policeman under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act.

The 32-year-old policeman, who is with the Sungai Kelamah police station, was alleged to have solicited and accepted a certain amount of money between last Thursday (Sept 6) and yesterday (Sept 10) from a goat rearer as an inducement for him (the policeman) not to take action against the goat rearer for stealing goats.

The policeman was alleged to have received RM3,000 from the goat rearer yesterday, prior to his arrest.
