Local councils, rescue teams in Johor told to be prepared for floods

The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, today urged local councils and related rescue agencies in the state to be alert and prepared during the current period of unpredictable weather.

His Majesty said that early preparation and planning was essential in ensuring that assistance could be immediately given if an area was hit by floods.

“Because of the current unpredictable weather, it is very important for everyone, especially rescue teams, to be prepared and ready,” the Sultan informed the Royal Press Office as posted on his official Facebook page.

Sultan Ibrahim also reminded parents and guardians to always monitor their children in the event of a flood.

“We don’t want anything untoward to happen. During floods we can also see how people come to help each other regardless of beliefs. This is also an opportunity to strengthen our unity amongst Bangsa Johor,” he said.

On Sunday, Sultan Ibrahim visited flood victims from Kampung Sungai Suloh and Kampung Sungai Ayam who were evacuated to a relief centre in SK Sungai Suloh, Batu Pahat.
