Johor MCA deputy chairperson going for No 2 post

Johor MCA deputy chairperson Tee Siew Kiong today announced his intention to contest for MCA deputy president at the party election in November.

Tee said he was prepared to take on the responsibility to restore the dignity of the party after suffering its worst defeat in the 14th general election in May.

“I am officially announcing my candidacy for MCA deputy president post in conjunction with the nomination of candidates on Oct 15 so that party members could feel the desire to transform the party,” he said in a meeting with Johor MCA division heads in Johor Bahru today.

Tee, who was Pulai Sebatang assemblyperson from 2004 to 2018, said he hopes to contribute to the process of rebuilding MCA with his experience in the party and government.

If the party were to rise again, it would be from Johor to the rest of the country, said Tee who has been with the party for 35 years.
