PKR POLLS | Ledang MP Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh failed in his bid to unseat incumbent Ledang PKR chief Chong Fat Full yesterday.

Chong retained his position with 541 votes against Syed Ibrahim's 263 votes.

The other PKR Johor MPs who contested for division posts all won. They are Tebrau MP Choong Shiau Yoon, Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasir, and Batu Pahat MP Rashid Hasnon.

Meanwhile, five division leaders won uncontested, namely in Tenggara, Pengerang, Pasir Gudang, Parit Sulong, and Ayer Hitam.

PKR Central Election Committee (JPP) deputy chairperson Adzman Hedra said the JPP was satisfied as there was no incident nor glitch affecting the election process, which involved 24 divisions of the party in the state.

However, Bernama reported Adzman as saying that only a total of 10,725 out of 37,934 eligible members in the state cast their votes yesterday.

The voter turnout was only 39.29 percent in Segamat, 39.77 percent in Pagoh, 37.10 percent in Kulai, 35.92 percent in Sekijang, 34.07 percent in Simpang Renggam, 30.81 percent in Bakri and 30.61 percent in Parit Sulong, while in other divisions, only between 11.72 percent and 28.77 percent of the members voted.

The polls saw 53 candidates contesting the posts of division chief, while 163 others contesting for the post of deputy chiefs, vice-chiefs and committee members.
