Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohamed Hanipa Maidin has concurred with Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s praise for Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
In a statement today, Hanipa said Syed Saddiq’s recent comment that the PM is a “perfectionist” is “fair and reasonable”.
“Maybe certain parties are uncomfortable with the term Mr Perfectionist... maybe the term is rather ‘hyperbolic’,” he said.
The Amanah politician explained that he had once been critical of Mahathir when the latter was in BN, but has now changed his mind after working with him as part of the Pakatan Harapan government.
“...as far as I am concerned, Tun (Mahathir) is simply awesome and genius,” Hanipa added.
Yesterday, without mentioning names, Johor Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim had tweeted: “Perfectionist? It’s either you’re delusional or obsessed. You were still in your mother’s belly, kid. Do some research.

The 26-year-old minister had earlier defended Mahathir as a "perfectionist' who wrote his own speeches in response to allegations that the latter’s recent speech at the 73rd United Nations General Assembly in New York, US had been scripted for him.

Syed Saddiq, although he was not mentioned by Tunku Ismail, responded in a reconciliatory manner.
“Ampun Tunku (Forgive me Tunku).
“If we keep on looking backwards, we will never be able to move forward. Patik will always pray for Tunku’s wellbeing,” he tweeted.
