PD POLLS | Pakatan Harapan candidate for Port Dickson Anwar Ibrahim today made a surprise appearance at an awards ceremony for army veterans. 

Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu was presenting the veterans with the Malaysian Service Medal (PJM) at the Army Museum Port Dickson, which is located within the army camp in the town. 

Anwar arrived at the museum at 4.20pm unannounced, although he had previously indicated that he would make an appearance at the event.

After shaking hands with several attendees, he occupied a VIP seat in the front row. 

The PJM is an award for military personnel who served in campaigns against the Communist Party of Malaya and the North Kalimantan Communist Party (PKKU). 

When met later, Anwar clarified he was not there to meet any Port Dickson voters, but the 110 army veterans who received veteran medals, who were from all over the country.

Anwar later enjoyed a meal at the VIP table and sat beside Mohamad just outside the Army Museum.

Anwar and Mohamad then proceeded to another event in the defence minister's official car.

The next event is to be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
