Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has returned to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya today for further questioning.

Clad in a greenish batik shirt, Zahid arrived in a white Land Cruiser, around 9.20am.

He was seen waiting in the lounge for about 10 minutes before following the MACC officers to the upper level.

This is the third time that he has been summoned to anti-corruption commission’s headquarters.

Zahid left the MACC building about 5.40pm, after about eight hours of questioning. 

Meanwhile, Berita Harian reported that Zahid's daughter Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid and his brother Mohd Nasaee Ahmad Tarmizi were also present at the headquarters.

Zahid later tweeted a photo of him in a car, heading back home, with Nurulhidayah. 

Nurulhidayah also denied she was questioned, upon exiting the building, saying she was just there to offer support for her father. 

The officers are expected to question Zahid in their ongoing investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds from the welfare foundation Yayasan Akal Budi.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (operations) Azam Baki confirmed yesterday that the commission has only called Zahid in for questioning, without divulging details.

A high-ranking MACC official had also told Malaysiakini that no order has been issued to arrest or charge the Bagan Datuk MP.

Zahid was summoned by the MACC on two occasions in July.

His meeting with the MACC investigators on July 2 was in relation to the alleged RM2.6 billion donation by the Saudi royalty deposited into the former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's personal account.

Zahid claimed that in 2015, he met the chief investment officer and wealth trustee of the Saudi family behind the donation.

On July 3, Zahid returned to the MACC for the second time to have his statement recorded on the Yayasan Akal Budi fund.

It was reported that RM800,000 from the foundation's funds were allegedly used to pay for the credit card bills of the Umno chief and his wife.

Zahid admitted that the funds were used to clear the credit card debt, but claimed that this was due to a mistake by his officer.
