"This find this to be unfair, and I will be writing to the exco in charge of local government, public transportation and new village development Ng Sze Han," he told journalists outside the site today.
Previously, a sign bearing the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council logo was put up stating that the site would be a 'Cat Recreational Centre' run by the NGO JKCR Animal Care.
Cat rescuer Jamil Ismail said an allocation had been granted to repair a dilapidated hall at the site for the purpose of a cat shelter, and was saddened that it had now become a service centre instead.
"I also ask for Deputy Prime Minister Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to assist me, she knows my work all this while.
"I even have a video of her stating that she respected what I do," he said.
Sungai Pelek assemblyperson Ronnie Liu, who was also present, said the issue was a "misunderstanding".
"It's okay, we will discuss the matter between Mohamed Azmin Ali, the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council and Jamil soon to resolve the issue," said Liu, who is also an Otai Reformasi activist.
Azmin is the assemblyperson for Bukit Antarabangsa and the MP for Gombak.
Malaysiakini has contacted his office for response.
