Consumers would have to pay more for chicken from tomorrow following a hike of 20 sen a kilo in the ex farm price.

The new retail price of dressed chicken without shank, head, liver and gizzard would be RM6.45 a kilo effective midnight tonight.

According to a statement issued by the Federation of Livestock Farmers' Association of Malaysia to Bernama , the increase in the price is based on the current demand and supply.

Following the increase in ex-farm price, the wholesale prices of live chicken would also go up to RM4.30 a kilo, while wholesale dressed price would go up to RM5.15 a kilo.

The retail price of live chicken is RM4.80 a kilo, and the dressed retail price of chicken with shank, head, liver and gizzard is RM5.75 a kilo.
