PARLIAMENT | A motion to censure Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin for besmirching the Dewan Rakyat by using the "F-word" has been withdrawn after the Sabah Umno lawmaker issued an apology.

In his apology, Bung said he realised that his remarks on Aug 7 were unparliamentary and had broken standing orders.

"I fully regret those remarks, and with a pure heart, I wish to apologise to the speaker and this august House, especially the women MPs.

"I assure that this will not happen again in the future, and humbly I hope for this apology to be accepted, especially by Shah Alam (Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad)," Bung told the Dewan Rakyat today.

Bung had made the offending remarks in the last Dewan Rakyat session, during the debate on the Sales Tax Bill.

Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin accepted Bung's apology and retracted her motion to refer him to the Rights and Privileges Committee.

After Bung's apology was made, Zuraida said she hoped the latter could keep his emotions in check in the future.

"Everyone here wants to have a world-class Parliament, so I hope we can all give quality debates. It is not beneficial and a waste of time to entertain trivial matters which should not arise.

"The new government is open and has high tolerance, so I hope we can be rid of bad practices and uplift this august House," she said.
