Police report over Julau PKR membership issues
Julau MP Larry Sng said a PKR member has lodged a police report against allegations of irregularities in the Julau PKR membership roll.
Julau MP Larry Sng (above) said a PKR member has lodged a police report against allegations of irregularities in the Julau PKR membership roll.
The police report is based on a viral list of 27 names of individuals purportedly from Parti Tenaga Rakyat Sarawak (Teras) who were allegedly registered as PKR members without their prior knowledge.
"I have printed out the list of the names of 27 people which were taken from Facebook and I got to know that their signatures (on the list) were forged by an irresponsible individual," read the report, which was lodged by one Arim Bandok.
The report also claimed that the statutory declaration by Sarawak PKR information chief Vernon Albert Kedit included signatures supposedly from the individuals but which did not match their actual signatures.
"I have met with nine individuals (out of the 27 on the list) who said they did not know that their signatures were on the list which went viral on Facebook.
"Their signatures are also not the same as the ones on the statutory declaration by Vernon Kedit," the report read.
The police report also attached statements from other individuals saying they were not Teras members and were instead already PKR members. These were accompanied by their signatures and a law firm's stamp.
"We have in our possession a declaration by these individuals that they had consented to be members of PKR in June.
With the handwritten statements from the nine individuals, he said it shows that the information provided in Vernon's statutory declaration was potentially false.
"We are looking into whether to press criminal charges against individuals, but I hope the authorities will look into this to see whether there are any grounds for prosecution," he said.
Sng, who joined PKR on May 11, is challenging Semana for the Julau PKR division leadership, a position which the latter has held for two terms. Sng is also a vying for a seat on the party's national leadership council.
It was reported previously that concerns were raised internally over irregularities in the membership list of Julau PKR.
