BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has proposed that the coalition rebrand itself with a new name as part of its efforts to win back Putrajaya in the 15th general election.

"I suggest we change BN's name. The current opposition movement needs to be strengthened with the entry of new parties so we can win back the government in GE15.

"For me, the 'Alliance 1.0' was formed in 1955. 'Alliance 2.0' or BN was created in 1974 with Umno, MCA and MIC as the core parties.

"Now in 2018, I suggest that 'Alliance 3.0' become a coalition of parties just like BN," he said at the 72nd MIC general assembly in Kuala Lumpur today.

Zahid added that he hoped PAS would make this new coalition even stronger.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan and vice-president Iskandar Ab Samad were among the guests at the AGM.

Also present were BN secretary-general Nazri Abdul Aziz, Malaysian Indian United Party president K Nallakarupan, and MyPPP presidential contender Maglin De Cruz.

Earlier today, Zahid mulled admitting Kongres India Muslim (Kimma) and other BN-friendly parties, such as Makkal Sakti and Indian Progressive Front (IPF), into the coalition after the rebranding exercise.
