The police have detained a 60-year-old man on suspicion of robbing and molesting a woman in Junjong resort area in Alor Setar on Oct 29.

Kulim police chief Supt Ahmad Nasir Jaafar said the suspect was picked up at 5.45pm yesterday in Seberang Perai, Penang.

"In the 10.40 am incident, the suspect had introduced himself as a JKR employee to the 30-year-old woman who was waiting for the bus in Kunci Rimbun, before offering the victim a ride because he was heading to the same destination.

"While in the car, the victim asked the suspect to stop in front of a pharmacy but he refused and continued driving until they reached the resort area before he pointed a knife at the victim's neck and a screwdriver at her waist," he said in a statement today.

The suspect then took RM150 cash, a bracelet and a mobile phone from the victim before molesting her, he said.

He added that the woman was forced out of the car in Junjong town.

Ahmad Nasir said initial investigations revealed that the man, who had seven criminal records and on the police wanted list, was active in Kulim and Penang.
