As many as 120 students from a Muslim minority community in Kampung Jamuan near the Cambodia-Vietnam border will now be able to study in greater comfort in Sekolah Agama Darul Iman, a new school built with the assistance of a Malaysian NGO.

Malaysia International NGO head Mustapha Ahmad Marican said the school, which is teaching students aged between 6 and 15, is now complete with various facilities and operates both morning and afternoon sessions.

“Before this, the residents depended on an old school which did not have facilities like an electric fan.

"The school cost US$30,000 to build, and does not include school equipment, which was contributed by a Terengganu government-linked company as well as individuals.

"Construction on the school began in February and was fully completed in early November, and it is hoped the new premises would be more conducive for studying,” he said in a statement.

The opening ceremony of Sekolah Agama Darul Iman was officiated by Mustapha and was attended by 300 villagers.
