Jeli MP Mustapa Mohamed has undergone a minor surgery at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur this morning to remove kidney stones.

Harian Metro reported that Mustapa earlier had to cancel his scheduled plans to attend a special prayer session last night, in conjunction with the launch of his new service centre in Bukit Nangka, Jeli, now as an MP from Bersatu.

Mustapa's special assistant Zahari Kechik said Mustapa only discovered his condition last night after complaining of stomach ache.

"He was admitted this morning and underwent a minor surgery.

"All of Tok Pa's activities this week will be postponed," Zahari was quoted as saying when met at the solat hajat session.

More than 100 guests were reportedly present, including Bersatu Jeli division chief Aminuddin Yaacob.

Mustapa, who is also Ayer Lanas assemblyperson, previously turned heads when he announced his decision to join Bersatu following his departure from Umno.

Mustapa is currently Harapan's sole representative in the Kelantan state-assembly.
