The announcement that Johor Bahru MP Akmal Nasir had won the PKR Youth chief post was met with boos at the wing's congress in Shah Alam this evening.
There were also those who shouted “tipu” (fraud) and “Afif” in support of Dr Afif Bahardin, who was leading the race with a small margin until the final week of voting.
Afif’s running mate Hilman Idham won the PKR Youth deputy chief race, beating Akmal’s running mate Raymond Ahuar and another candidate Naqiuddin Nazrin.
The three winners of the Youth vice chiefs race were S Thiban, S Justin and Mohd Nazree Mohd Yunus. Thiban is on Akmal’s team while the other two are with Afif.
Of the 20 exco positions, only two are from Akmal's team. They are Mohd Aizuddin Ariffin and Muhammad Arif Mukhtar.
The majority of those who won a seat on the PKR Youth committee are aligned to Afif, who is part of PKR deputy president Azmin Ali's team.
Akmal, on the other hand, is aligned to Rafizi Ramli, who failed to unseat Azmin in the battle for number two.
Afif, who is also Penang state executive councillor, was seen in tears as he was consoling several crying supporters.
