Yoursay: Bersatu, reject the man who put Guan Eng in jail

YOURSAY | ‘Rahim Thamby Chik ranks among the most despicable in Umno’s gallery of rogues.’

Muhyiddin addresses ex-CM's 'bad history' with Anwar, Guan Eng

StraightTalk: It looks like Bersatu has not only removed its doors but it has also ripped off its windows, roof and everything else that is needed for a proper, meaningful and a strong structure.

It seems like anybody can just walk in or can even jump into the "Bersatu building" as long as he or she is a Malay Muslim. It does not matter what kind of an uncouth person he or she is.

It is becoming evident that Bersatu will soon become a clear carbon copy of Umno and nothing more.

All this "cooling-off period" and "vetting process" that Bersatu leaders talk about for these frogs wanting to hop from Umno-BN to Bersatu is subjective since Bersatu is proving to be a party without principles.

Bersatu leaders can shout that party-hopping is a democratic process but it should stop taking the rakyat for granted.

Bersatu's rush to increase its parliamentary strength using "backdoor" tactics without due consideration to its policies and principles for good governance promised to the rakyat will soon destroy its credibility within the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

Bersatu leaders must also remember there have been many cases of voters avenging politicians who have switched their allegiance to serve their own agenda, resulting in an end to their political career.

Vijay47: Please Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin, do not insult us with your school boyish arguments.

In furiously opposing former Malacca CM Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik's acceptance into Bersatu or any Harapan party, we are not referring to political affiliations he may have had in the past.

He could be from Umno, PAS, DAP, MIC, MCA, nobody cares a flying damn as long as his conduct t hen was within the boundaries permitted in politics.

Participation in 1MDB and similar criminal scandals is not the only condemnation a person could carry; Rahim comes with baggage that stinks to high heaven and it boggles the mind that you can even consider his application without rejecting it outright.

In fact, from your pussy-footing, it appears that you have already decided to welcome him to your bosom.

Would you be equally willing to accept him into your party folds if the girl in question were your daughter or granddaughter? Doesn’t that history count for anything in Bersatu?

We all had our fears that Harapan’s real enemy was from within. You are now proving us painfully right.

Hopeful123: This former Malacca CM was accused of statutory rape of an underage girl but there was no evidence. Don't forget the evil regime of those days when innocent people were made to suffer.

DAP leader and Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng went to prison defending the girl. Now Muhyiddin says it is okay?

This "past is past" attitude will see the downfall of Harapan. Never admit crooks into the fold. Other Harapan parties must put their foot down, even if it means kicking out Bersatu.

Let us see if Bersatu can survive outside of Harapan.

Abasir: The most despicable from Umno, those whose words and deeds over the years caused the tidal wave of resentment against the ousted regime of rascals, are now zeroing in on Bersatu - their party of choice.

It says a lot about those who are currently lodged there - their morals, their ethics, their bigotry and their "end justifies the means" approach to ensure their own survival.

They are desperados who wouldn't blink an eye to betray everything Harapan once meant - hope for better governance by men and women of good character.

The Harapan presidential council, assuming it is largely made up of honourable men and women, must convene an emergency session to rid itself of Bersatu and everything it represents, including the scum it attracts.

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his ilk can only take the country back to the dark days of the past. They must be stopped. Now.

Cogito Ergo Sum: Of all the people, Rahim Thamby Chik ranks among the most despicable in Umno’s gallery of rogues.

Lim Guan Eng went to jail trying to save the honour of a child and PKR leader Anwar Ibrahim was defamed by a doctored sex video. This man had absolutely zero morals and will not hesitate to do the dirty again.

If you accept him into Harapan, you can kiss your second term at governance goodbye.

TehTarik: It appears that Bersatu is nothing more than Umno 3.0. It is highly likely that the Umno disease of cronyism, nepotism and money politics will soon directly infect Bersatu, and indirectly Harapan.

It’s a sad turn of events for many of us, Harapan supporters, who voted for a Malaysia Baru.

RM2.6 Billion Turkey Haram: Muhyiddin, do not justify Rahim's admission to Bersatu. Why must you hurt the feelings of existing members who have fought so hard to win the election by admitting those discards from Umno?

Remember those intending to join now are opportunists, eyeing for positions. Had they have principles, they could have resigned from Umno long before GE. But it was not to be. They waited, hoping Umno would win, and if that happens, do you think they would join Bersatu now?

Stick to your loyal buddies in arm, and rest assured they would not let you down. Admit more from Umno, and you will regret it.

Serembanpau: PKR and DAP are not in favour of having Umno crossovers into Harapan and if Bersatu insists on having them in their ranks, then go for broke.

Initiate a no-confidence vote against the PM in parliament and going by the numbers, the vote will succeed. And Anwar can take over the PM mantle.

The manoeuvres by Mahathir in attracting Umno members to Bersatu show something is brewing, which will be detrimental to the ruling alliance.

Royal Salute 21Y: Mahathir, we understand how you want to strengthen your party which is a minion in Harapan but please grow organically.

It is not difficult to grow organically, speed up the prosecution process and throw all corrupt Umno-BN MPs in jail, stand and win the by-elections. If rule of law applies, then all these should happen within the next two or three years.

We voted for a Malaysia Baru, not a reincarnation of Umno-BN in the form of Bersatu. If you insist, then we hope PKR, DAP and Amanah, which collectively control 103 MPs, nine short of a simple majority, work it out with some less-tainted MPs from Umno to put Bersatu into opposition.

Anonymous 2413471460628504: After all the recriminations, insults and worse hurled at #UndiRosak, they get to prove to us they were right?
