Previously, media reports claimed that the she was three months pregnant.
"My wife recently told me that she bled," Mohd Farid, 67, was quoted as saying by Bernama .
However, he said he was unsure whether the bleeding was due to a miscarriage or whether she was menstruating.
On whether his son-in-law was aware of Farinie's condition, Mohd Farid said he did not know.
"Dr (Elie) was always hoping for Farinnie to become pregnant as he wanted a Malaysian child very much," he added.
Elie, a 46-year-old Lebanese, became a household name here after pledging RM1.07 billion to the National Cancer Council (Makna).
He also claimed to be worth US$46 billion, making him the third richest man in the world, with diverse business interests around the world.
Police reports
Within 24-hours of receiving prominent coverage, reports questioning his credibility began to surface.
It was revealed that over the past few months, at least five police reports have been lodged against the businessman, who also claimed to be suffering from brain tumor, for offences such as cheating and criminal breach of trust.
He was arrested by the police on Sunday at his condominium in Kuala Lumpur. Yesterday, a four-day-remand order was issued against him to facilitate investigations into fraud related cases.
Elie is currently warded at the Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) had said that it will record statements from Najem and his local wife concerning the status of their marriage.
The Kedah Islamic Religious Department (JAIK) was earlier reported as confirming that the couple did not marry in Kedah as claimed by Elie, and that the marriage certificate obtained by the couple was forged.
However, Mohd Farid said that he stood by his son-in-law's claim that he was indeed a billionaire.
