DAP Pontian local councillor Kamarul Ariffin Harris Fadzillah has deleted his Facebook posting on Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim and Pulau Kukup after a police report was lodged against him.

In a new Facebook posting, Kamarul Ariffin said the initial post was taken down on the advice of friends and family.

"I admit I wrote the posting in a rational frame of mind, and it was my personal view, which has nothing to do with anyone else. I wrote and deleted the posting on my own free will, without compulsion from anyone.

"However, I maintain my stance, and will not budge on the issue of Pulau Kukup, which I raised yesterday.

"In my opinion, Pulau Kukup must be saved from any individual or personal interest," he said.

Kamarul Ariffin noted that a police report had been made against him, and that he was prepared to cooperate with the authorities.

"I would also like to apologise to any quarters who were slighted by my words, but what I did was in the interest of Pulau Kukup and not my own," he said.

The police report was shared by Ayer Hitam Umno Youth's Facebook page.

In the posting, Kamarul Ariffin had questioned Tunku's Ismail's recent apology for any mistakes he had made last year, and asked if it was to distract from the conversion of Pulau Kukup to sultanate land.

The councillor also asked for the land to be "returned to the people".

The police report had alleged that Kamarul Ariffin had insulted the Johor royal institution.
