Former Felda chairperson Mohd Isa Samad was today asked to file his defence by the Kuala Lumpur High Court in the RM12.2 million suit filed by FGV Holdings Bhd over the purchase of two luxury condominiums.

Isa has to file his defence by Feb 4, his lawyer Lavinia Kumaraendran said.

Meanwhile, former FGV CEO Mohd Emir Mavani Abdullah, named as the second defendant in the suit, has yet to appoint a lawyer for the case, revealed FGV lawyer Ang Hean Leng.

The court fixed case management before deputy registrar Farah Shuhada Ramli on Jan 23.

FGV filed the suit last month against Isa and Emir over the purchase of the two condominium units, which they alleged were made "at prices significantly above market value and without proper due diligence.”

In its filing with Bursa Malaysia, FGV also alleged wrongful and unauthorised use and possession of the units by the defendants.

Of the RM12.2 million total, FGV is seeking RM3.2 million from Emir for allegedly misusing a number of cars purchased by the company as well as his petrol benefits.

It was previously reported that Isa, Emir and 12 other former directors were also sued for RM514 million for failing to discharge their respective fiduciary duties, duties of fidelity and/or to exercise reasonable care, skill and diligence with regard to the purchase of Asia Plantations Ltd.
