Army corporal charged with sexual assault on daughter

An army corporal charged with committing sexual assault on his daughter has pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court in Ipoh today.

The 30-year-old soldier made the plea before Sessions judge Julie Lack Abdullah.

He was charged with committing the offence on the girl, who was then four years and five months old, at their house in Bandar Baru Putra here in December last year.

The charge, under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, provides imprisonment for up to 20 years and the accused shall also be liable to whipping, if found guilty.

Deputy public prosecutor Naidatul Athirah Azman prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented.

The court set this Friday for mention.

I have commented before on the picture above the caption that is always being used by Malaysiakini whenever it’s about the sexual abuse of a child , especially by immediate relatives . This picture clearly portrays a girl from an ethnic group that has hardly any evidence of such frequency of abuses and as such is very misleading and bad in taste and judgement. May I bluntly ask the editors whether they are lacking in moral courage and fear certain groups more than this particular ethnic group? I am not a racist. My conscience is ckear. But Malaysiakini is resorting to the typical false stereotyping as was the sad disgusting practice by RTM etc those days. Statistics speak loudly otherwise , and I suspect this case is no different. If you don’t have the gumption to call a spade a spade, at least have the intellect to remove this picture and don’t use any at all. Opting out of my subscription when due and taking others with me too is becoming more of a likelihood.
