The first BN supreme council meeting since the last general election ended without a consensus on whether or not the coalition should be dissolved.
BN acting chairperson Mohamad Hasan said MCA president Wee Ka Siong had tabled the motion during the meeting.
"The meeting doesn't have a consensus to dissolve BN," Mohamad said.
"We are very much intact," he added. He also said that Umno and MIC saw no need to dissolve the coalition.
However, he said BN will establish a technical committee to look into the grouses of MCA and MIC.
Wee, meanwhile, said he will revert today's decision to MCA's central working committee.
MCA's motion to dissolve BN was a resolution passed at the party's annual general meeting last year.
Wee's heated views about BN's future appear to have been cooled following the coalition's move to remove Nazri Abdul Aziz as secretary-general.
When asked about MCA and MIC's joint statement issued (above) on Monday on "moving on" and exploring "new alliances", Wee replied that the statement should be read in its entirety.
The statement had largely expressed unhappiness at Nazri and other unnamed Umno leaders who MCA and MIC accused of being racist.
"So we wanted some action to be taken to negate that, we wanted to see BN return to its original intent.
"What are BN's core values? It is the spirit of togetherness and respect for the Federal Constitution," he said.
He added that in BN, decisions could not be made unilaterally.
This is likely a reference to Nazri's appointment as BN secretary-general last year which was done by then chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, allegedly without consultation.
