After a flurry of lawsuits, countersuits and police reports, the family of tycoon Loh Kim Foh is drawing the line: Stop the police harassment.

This afternoon, six policemen, including one in uniform (photo), were involved in a 50-minute standoff with members of Loh family at the gates of their office in Kuala Lumpur.

According to a police report lodged after the incident at the Brickfields district police headquarters, Loh's grandson Gwo Burne Loh, alleged that the six demanded that they be allowed into the premises.

In the report, Gwo Burne said he refused the policemen's request as they failed to show proper documentations and authority cards.

RM100m in assets

In a hastily organised press conference at the same office today, Loh's youngest son Mui Fah (right) alleged that he and his family had been harassed by the police numerous times since 2001.

He believed that the police were acting on police reports lodged by Loh's second wife Wong Kim, 84, and family members loyal to her.

The riff between Loh faction and Wong's, has been long standing. The patriarch is presently seeking the High Court's intervention in order to regain control of RM100mil from her, a son, and three daughters from the second marriage.

Loh (left) claimed that he signed over the controlling stakes of his company to them in July 2001, after they had drugged him with prostate cancer medication.

He alleged in his writ of summons filed in Aug 2005 last year that the defendants had conspired to defraud and deprive him of his fortune.

Loh is the founder of Lohman Holdings which dealt in investment of shares and real estate. But after Loh's shares were transferred in 2001, Wong Kim and her children had applied for the company to go into voluntary liquidation.

'Licensed terrorist'

Mui Fah said that he had complained about the disturbances from the police to almost every public complaints department, but no action has been taken to date.

"When will this stop? Why don't the cops look into the reasons for the same people to keep making so many police reports," he said.

He claimed that his sons who entertained the policemen at the gates were rudely treated.

"It would seem the police are like licensed terrorist [...] they could not even explain why they wanted to enter our premises," he added.

Brickfields police chief ACP Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim when contacted later said that his men were at the premises to take statements from Mui Fah because one of his family members had lodged a police report against him for illegally confining his father.

Dzuraidi however declined further comment.
