Adenan wants to meet the people
Former Natural Resources and Environment Minister Adenan Satem is planning to travel throughout Sarawak, especially the rural areas soon, after being dropped from the new cabinet line-up.
"I will be travelling throughout the state, closer to the ground and meet the people," he was quoted as saying by
Bernama
.
He was speaking to reporters after a two-hour meeting with Sarawak Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud this morning.
Adenan who tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday to play a more active role in Sarawak politics, said apart from extensive travelling, he would also focus on preparations for the coming state election.
Initially he refused to divulge what had transpired at the meeting with Abdul Taib saying it was confidential.

"It has some bearing on the state election," said Adenan, who is senior vice- president of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu, state assemblyman for Muara Tuang and MP for Batang Sadong.
Asked on speculation that he would be appointed as the acting chief minister, he said: "No comment to make."
Abdullah when announcing the cabinet reshuffle yesterday said Adenan had requested to be dropped to enable him to return to Sarawak and get closer to the people.
After the announcement, Adenan's immediate reaction at his house in Putrajaya yesterday, explained that he had indicated to step down from his position to the premier three weeks ago.
Adenan also said his request to return to Sarawak was because the election scheduled for this year was coming nearer.
