Police have not set a deadline for their investigation into the sex videos implicating Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali.

Urging the public to be patient, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Mazlan Mansor, however, promised a thorough probe.

"I cannot give you any deadline... there is no time bar (sic) for us.

"But let the investigation be a sempurna (complete) one, don't rush it," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman this morning.

Mazlan also said police would question whoever it deems necessary.

"The investigation will be across the board," he added.

As before, Mazlan declined to divulge details on the investigation, but said the dedicated taskforce for the case – led by the police and including the Communications and Multimedia Commission – is working on it.

"We are conducting investigations daily and our task force has been meeting every day," he added.

Pressed further on whether the police believe that the videos were authentic, Mazlan again declined to comment as the case is under investigation.

Australian broadcaster SBS previously had several experts analyse the clips in question, all concluding that the videos appeared to be not doctored but they could not identify who was in the video.

Last week, video clips depicting two men engaged in sexual acts were systematically distributed through WhatsApp to PKR members as well as the media.

PKR Santubong Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz later confessed to being the person in the clips and claimed that Azmin had been his partner.

Azmin has denied involvement and characterised the allegation as an attempt to destroy his political career. He has also vowed legal action against those behind the videos.

The police arrested Haziq last Friday while he was en route to Manila. He has since been released on bail.

Haziq is being probed for four charges, including carnal intercourse.
