UPDATED | PKR will issue a show cause letter against Santubong division youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz for making a public statement that tarnished the party's image.

Haziq will be given 14 days to respond to the show cause letter.

PKR disciplinary committee chief Ahmad Kassim said that Haziq had issued remarks which had tarnished the image of the party and ruin the leadership's reputation.

"The disciplinary committee held a meeting on Sunday (June 16) to discuss on the sex video issue.

"We are aware of comments by various parties regarding the issue and we urge the members to remain steadfast in facing this ordeal and respect the law," he said in a media conference at PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya today.

The 27-year-old made a confession last week that he was filmed in a sex video with another man whom he claimed to be PKR deputy president Azmin Ali.

Azmin has denied the allegations as libel meant to tarnish his reputation.

The move to issue a show cause letter came after the PKR political bureau's meeting at the PKR headquarters today.

Ahmad Kassim said they took into account Azmin's denial and will look into any explanations on the matter.

He also warned the members against issuing baseless statements regarding the issue and reminded them that PKR is waiting for authorities to wrap up their investigation.

Asked what will happen to Haziq if he failed to respond within 14 days, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim, who was also present at the media conference asked all parties to be patient and wait for Haziq's reply.

"Be patient. How do you know that he will not answer?" he told the media when pressed on further action against Haziq.
