According to the Star , the minister told reporters this at the Parliament lobby yesterday after the opening of the first meeting of the third Dewan Rakyat session.

Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd now charges RM45 airport tax for an international flight and RM6 for a domestic fight.

On the proposed increase, Chan said: "Only a little. Let's wait until Wednesday."

Second bad news

Chan was asked to comment on a news report that the airport tax for international flights would be raised to between RM60 and RM65 and domestic flights to between RM10 and RM12.

He said the amount reported might "not be exactly accurate."

The minister's announcement was the second piece of bad news for frequent flyers in recent days.

Last week, the announcement of the opening of the new low-cost carrier terminal at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport caught many by surprise when it was revealed that the new terminal was located some 30-minute drive from the KLIA.
