Bersatu Supreme Council member Redzuan Md Yusof has again brushed off speculations that he will run for the party presidency in the upcoming Bersatu elections.
"It's not true. I haven't decided whether I want to contest or not," he said.
Redzuan said he will consider contesting if the grassroots want him to do so.
Even if he finally decided to contest, he said he would only eye the Supreme Council member post.
There had been speculation Redzuan was asked by the prime minister and Bersatu chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad to contest the president post, which is currently held by Muhyiddin Yassin.
The relationship between the two top Bersatu leaders was said to be no longer as close as before.
Previously, Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir claimed the grassroots wanted the top three posts to remain uncontested in the upcoming party election.
Bersatu was formed as an Umno-splinter party in September 2016 and moved to join the then Pakatan Harapan opposition bloc.
Under its constitution, Bersatu needs to conduct a party poll in three years.
Mahathir had said his party would not postpone the party election.
