PARLIAMENT | The Finance Ministry will investigate if MCA-owned Koperasi Jayadiri Sdn Bhd (Kojadi) received other government funds with the help of political influence.
Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said this during the question-and-answer session at the Dewan Rakyat today.
"Previously, Kojadi received funds due to the relationship and interference of a political party," he said, but stopped short of naming any BN component party.
"Definitely, the Finance Ministry will scrutinise this matter, including the allocation and funds that were channelled to Kojadi from the ministry."
Last month, MACC filed 41 forfeiture suits on various individuals and organisations seeking the return of RM280 million in 1MDB-linked funds.
Kojadi was accused of receiving RM15 million from Yayasan 1MDB which MCA president Wee Ka Siong denied, stating that the funds were legal.
Its chairperson, Ng Peng Hay said he wanted to return the money but was subsequently suspended by the cooperative's board.
Lim said Kojadi had returned the RM6.1 million of the overall RM15 million it received to Yayasan 1MDB.
"To say the RM1.5 million received by Kojadi has nothing to do with 1MDB is not true because RM6.1 million was returned to Yayasan 1MDB," he said.
