The Umno supreme council has unanimously agreed to cooperate with PAS based on the principle of 'taawun siyasi' (political cooperation), said president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
According to Zahid, the two parties will issue a joint statement on the matter through their respective secretary-generals tomorrow.
"The supreme council has unanimously decided that the cooperation with PAS can be formalised with the signing of a charter.
"The Umno and PAS secretary-general will make a joint statement to inform the general public about the date and signature of the agreement between Umno and PAS," he said in a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre today.

Zahid stressed that Umno respected PAS's commitment to the charter, and that the agreement will not "open the door" to any party that has a relationship with DAP.
"There will be no negotiation any party in the Pakatan Harapan coalition as long as they share the power with DAP.
"Umno rejects cooperation with DAP. Therefore, we have no negotiation with other parties as long as that party conspires with DAP," he said.
Zahid claimed DAP was championing a 'Malaysian Malaysia' agenda that Umno and BN could not accept.
The supreme council meeting also decided that only Zahid was eligible to negotiate for Umno with any other party in the PAS-Umno cooperation.
"If there are parties outside Umno-PAS who want to invite Umno and PAS to hold discussions on the form of political cooperation, only the president can represent Umno, no other figure."
