Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife Rosmah Mansor are expected to have their statements recorded by the police tomorrow to facilitate investigations on several audio recordings released by the MACC.

Bukit Aman CID Prosecution and Law Division (D5) principal assistant director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid told Malaysiakini that the police will record their statements tomorrow morning.

"Police will record statements from them tomorrow morning," Mior briefly said.

Prior to this, police had recorded statements from 12 witnesses regarding the nine audio recordings disclosed by the MACC, which the commission claimed to be evidence of a high-level criminal conspiracy.

These include Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim; Shukry Mohd Salleh, who was Najib’s principal private secretary; and Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin, the former special officer to Najib.

The recordings released by the MACC on Jan 8 included, among others, an alleged leak of confidential information from the Attorney-General's Chambers to Najib.

Several other phone conversations also appeared to discuss investigations into the 1MDB scandal.

Among those heard in the wiretapped conversations include Najib, Rosmah, former MACC chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad, a member of the Abu Dhabi royalty, and several other individuals.
