The couple arrived at the Bukit Aman police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur at about 10.45am this morning and entered through the rear entrance.
The interview session lasted about an hour.
Following this, MACC is scheduled to quiz Najib and his wife at its headquarters in Putrajaya over the same issue at 2.30pm.
On Jan 8, MACC released the audio recordings of the conversations, which also involved the leaking of information from the Attorney General’s Chambers to Najib on the 1MDB probe in 2016.
Among the recordings were telephone conversations between the former premier and his wife as well as between Najib and former MACC chief Dzulkifli Ahmad, who was with the AG Chambers at that point.
Previously, police said it had recorded statements from various witnesses to facilitate investigations into the nine audio recordings.
Those quizzed included Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim, Shukry Mohd Salleh, who was Najib’s principal private secretary and Amhari Efendi Nazaruddin, the former special officer to Najib.
The other recordings exposed included conversations between Najib and high ranking individuals from the United Arab Emirates, concerning the US Department of Justice's 1MDB civil forfeiture suits and funds channelled to the former premier's stepson Riza Aziz.
During the media conference where the clips were released, MACC chief Latheefa Koya had said the commission received the recordings from anonymous sources after the new year.
She added that forensics tests concluded that the recordings were authentic and not tampered with.
As for the conversation between Najib and Dzulkifli, Latheefa said it was wrong to leak information to the former premier, who was a possible suspect at the material time.
She said this could have been in violation of the Official Secrets Act.
"There are various serious issues arising (from the audio clips), including abuse of power, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of justice, compromising national security, fabrication of false evidence through foreign aid and connivance,” she added.
