Patriot disgusted with possible formation of a new government

Persatuan Patriot Kebangsaan (Patriot) said it is disgusted with the unholy political attempt to form a backdoor government.

Patriot president Mohamed Arshad Raji (above) said in a statement today that this would be a betrayal of the people's mandate.

"As has been widely reported, Bersatu and a faction of PKR politicians are trying to form a new government that will include Umno and PAS.

"This is shocking, especially barely two days after the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council had proclaimed the settlement of the issue of premiership succession.

"Patriot will not support any government formed that includes Umno and PAS.

"If it is true that the Harapan government has collapsed, like any mature democracy, then the right thing is to dissolve Parliament so that coalition parties can seek a new mandate from the people," Arshad said.

The formation of a new government to replace Harapan appeared imminent following Azmin Ali's faction in PKR, BN, PAS, Bersatu, GPS and Warisan having met with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong yesterday.

MIC president SA Vigneswaran told the media that Bersatu may quit Harapan while Azmin had quit PKR. This was not confirmed by Azmin.

There has been no official announcement from Mahathir or any other party on the matter as of this morning.

Mahathir himself only appeared at the Bersatu meeting but was not present at the Istana and Sheraton PJ, where the leaders of the other parties had gathered.
