CORONAVIRUS | A woman who shouted profanities at police and army personnel stationed along Persiaran Surian, Kota Damansara, this morning, has been arrested for obstructing a public servant on duty.

Petaling Jaya district police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal reportedly confirmed the arrest, and that the woman had shouted, "You all are idiots!" at the police and army personnel on duty.

Online portal Malaysia Gazette quoted Nik Ezanee as taking a sarcastic swipe at the woman who was identified as a resident of an apartment near the road-block mounted in conjunction with the ongoing movement control order (MCO).

"Yes, all of us may be idiots [...] but we are idiots because there are safety aspects that must be prioritised [...]

"So I apologise for causing this trouble," he was quoted as saying.

"We have a duty to perform for the country and the people's safety, to ensure that all of you are safe.

"That is our duty, so I apologise," said Nik Ezanee who then added that the woman was taken to the Damansara police station

It was reported that the woman was earlier caught in a traffic snarl for about 30 minutes before reaching the main entrance to her apartment. She then shouted "Hoi, stupid idiots!" at the policemen on duty.

Police and army personnel at roadblocks are tasked to ensure compliance with the movement control order enforced until April 14 as part of efforts to curb the Covid-19 pandemic.
